never-waste

One in 4 people die of hunger daily according to a news report. This is one too many. In this day and age NO-ONE should be dying of hunger. Millions are wasted by governments on wars, perks for officials and wasteful expenditure on things we do not necessarily need.

Most developed nations do not have a policy in place to reduce wastage of foods and to help out low income or no income families who do not have enough to eat.

France has become the first country in the world to ban supermarkets from throwing away or destroying unsold food, forcing them instead to donate it to charities and food banks.

Under a law passed unanimously by the French senate, as of Wednesday large shops will no longer bin good quality food approaching its best-before date. Charities will be able to give out millions more free meals each year to people struggling to afford to eat.

This is something that should be enforced in all countries. Why should food be allowed to rot, when it can make a difference in whether a person goes to bed hungry or not.
