Ascending through the levels of consciousness is a good thing, but it also presents new challenges and obstacles to overcome. One of these is called ‘Lightworker Syndrome,’ and it’s often found in people who have raised their level of consciousness, but become lost after doing so because of contradictions that manifest between the physical world and the spiritual world.

Part of achieving a higher level of consciousness is living with purpose. Once someone has learned how to live with purpose, they open up their world in so many new ways. The problem comes when someone cannot fully figure out how to fulfill this life purpose while also surviving in a world that measures one’s worth largely by how much wealth they have. After all, how are you supposed to live with a purpose if you can’t pay your mortgage or rent and end up on the streets?

Trying to find the balance between the two can leave some lightworkers feeling depressed and ready to call it quits.

Perhaps the biggest obstacle to overcome in the case of lightworker syndrome is the notion that you cannot do what you love for a living. It’s often presented in our minds as an “either-or” type of situation where you can either pay the bills and do something that you don’t really love, or you can do what you love and sacrifice your income.

Overcoming this belief

Inherent in this challenge of wanting to stay connected to both the spiritual world and the physical world is the fact that many of us are afraid of what life would look like if we succeeded in achieving this balance.

When one is connected spiritually, the motivation, drive and passion comes naturally. When you possess these qualities, it makes work in the physical realm much, much easier to do. When you are thriving in the physical world, you’re more financially secure and grounded, which in turn opens up more time and freedom for you to pursue your connection with the spiritual world. It is very much a cycle that starts with finding what drives you.

This is the pattern that you want to manifest in your life. Once you’ve created this for yourself, it will only continue to grow over time. Again, the first step is overcoming the fear of success–the fear of achieving this positive, cyclical balance.

The physical world and the spiritual world are like two sides of the same coin, they work in tandem. Your actions stem from your purpose, your actions then deliver favorable results, these positive results net you a satisfactory income.

Fearing your own power

At the core of this obstacle is the fact that so many of us, myself included, are afraid of the power and potential that is inherent within all of us. We’re so afraid of it that we actually tend to dim it instead of following it wherever it wants to lead us. But, every day you spend not using your power, you’re just creating distractions that put this fear out of mind, out of sight. You’re afraid of becoming largely successful and all of the responsibility that comes with it.

What is the real reason you’re here? Have you ever wondered that? What is your life’s purpose? Are you living a life that feels like the one you were meant to live? How many times have you dreamt of doing great things for yourself and others, only to wake up in the morning and forget all about them because of fear?

You are a lightworker, and that means you are here to shine your light in this world, however you choose to do so. The more you dim this light, the more you start to resonate with fear. And by resonating with fear, you attract the everyday problems and annoyances that ultimately build up and weigh heavy on you for long periods of time.

Embrace your power, your potential and your need to live a life that benefits you and those around you.
