6 Things To Be Open About In Your Relationship
There are always a few differences of opinion in any relationship; and constantly squabbling over them isn’t going to make life any easier. But there are certain things that need to be discussed; before a minor gripe gets out of control. So here are some of the top subjects your should be open about, in your relationship:
1. Sports, Sports, Sports
Love it? Hate it? Can mildly tolerate it? This is something you need to be upfront about! There’s no point sitting through endless hours of sports, feigning interest, when really you’d rather slam your head against a wall than discuss the offside rule, hat-ricks and fantasy football. It’s ok to have different interests.
There’s no point getting up at stupid o’clock to fake interest in an AFL game to impress your partner. (
Not that I actually did this or anything) Unless Beyonce is involved. If Queen Bey is making an appearance, then hand me those chicken wings. (See, compromise!)
2. Back Seat Driver
There’s nothing more annoying than someone wittering in your ear when you’re trying to navigate your way around new territory. There are two solutions to avoiding any ‘back seat driver’ arguments. 1. Leave your partner at home, or 2. Put them on a nagging ban.
But in all seriousness, if you’re a bit of a back seat driver, be open about it. Maybe you can evenly share the driving, to reduce stress levels from pent up tongue biting. Maybe one of you would be happy to take the passenger seat! You never know until you discuss these things.
3. Health Food Phony
Health food junkie? Grand. Fast food junkie? Okay. Somewhere in-between? No worries! Now, the one thing I can’t be dealing with is a self proclaimed health nut who secretly eats all my hidden stash of goodies!
Don’t preach about your almond butter, with your avocados coming out your ears, claiming you could never put away a 12 inch pizza like that… then as soon as the back is turned, you’re attacking the Nutella jar like there’s no tomorrow. Honesty is the best policy! I’m happy to share the goodies, just keep your NutriBullet away from me…
4. Cats or Dogs
This can be the deal breaker. Your preference of household pet says a lot about your personality. Dog lovers are said to be social animals, who love venturing outdoors for long walks in the park, meeting other dog lovers for casual chit chat and making new friendships.
Cat lovers are said to be more introverted. However, owning a cat is a much bigger commitment, as they usually live longer than dogs. Is the cat owner someone you can trust for the long-haul commitment and quiet evenings at home? Can a cat lover and a dog lover live together in peaceful harmony? Not in my house anyway. You can take your cat hair and painful cat scratches and stick it. I’ll be sitting here with my gorgeously cuddly Labrador, thanks very much.
5. Chores Dodger
There are types of people out there who will go out of their way to avoid doing housework. People who feel cleaning up after themselves is optional, rather than a necessity. These people are to be avoided at all costs.
They’ll double your work load and triple your stress levels. On the other hand, you might accidentally fall head over heels for one. And as long as they’re open about it, you will find a way to make it work. For instance, make them pay for a cleaner! It’s a win win really.
6. Fuel Thief
“Will we take your car when we visit your parents?”, “Oh, I’ve not much diesel, will we take your car?”. Sound familiar? A fuel thief may rear their ugly head in the later stages of a relationship, when practicality takes over.
How do you get around this one without entering in to a ‘let’s take your car’ stand off? A fuel kitty! Be open about the distance you drive on a regular week, and then ensure you both pay in to a kitty which covers your travel fairly, plus a little extra for any ad hoc journeys you’ll be making. Being open about these niggly things can really have a positive impact on your relationship.http://the-conscious-mind.com/6-things-to-be-open-about-in-your-relationship/6 Things To Be Open About In Your Relationshiphttp://the-conscious-mind.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/relationships-e1505721790231.jpghttp://the-conscious-mind.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/relationships-150x150.jpgRelationshipsbackseat driver, health food,Relationship,Sports
